049: 수동태 문장 2 - 4형식과 5형식 문장 그리고 의문문을

        수동태 문장으로 만들기

 

Ⅰ. 4형식 문장은 목적어가 2개이므로 2개의 수동태 문장이 가능하다.

1. 간접 목적어를 주어로 내세우기 - 3형식 문장이 된다.

   ① He told us an interesting story.

        (그는 우리에게 재미있는 이야기를 말해주었다.)

   → We were told an interesting story by him.

        (우리는 그에 의하여 재미있는 이야기가 말해졌다.)

 

   ② I gave my sister a pencil.(나는 나의 누이에게 연필을 주었다.)

   → My sister was given a pencil by me.(나의 누이는 나에 의하여 연필이 주어졌다.)

 

2. 직접 목적어를 주어로 내세우기 - 1형식 문장이 된다.

먼저 전치사를 이용하여 3형식으로 만들고, 직접 목적어를 주어로 내세운다.

   ③ He told us an interesting story.

   → He told an interesting story to us. - 3형식 문장으로 만듦(전치사 to)

   → An interesting story was told to us by him. - 수동태 문장으로 만듦

       (재미있는 이야기가 그에 의하여 우리에게 말해졌다.)

 

   ④ My sister made me an ugly doll.

   → She made an ugly doll for me. - 3형식 문장으로 만듦(전치사 for)

   → An ugly doll was made for me by her. - 수동태 문장으로 만듦

        (못생긴 인형이 그녀에 의하여 나에게<나를 위하여> 만들어졌다.)

 

Ⅱ. 5형식 문장을 수동태로 바꾸면 2형식 문장이 된다.

   ① His classmates called him a genius.(him = genius) - 5형식

        (그의 반 친구들은 그를 천재라고 불렀다.)

   → He was called a genius by his classmates.(He = genius)

        (그는 그의 반 친구들에 의하여 천재로 불려졌다.)

   - 주어인 He와 동사 뒤의 명사 genius가 같은 사람이므로 2형식이다.

 

   ② The surroundings made the villa more beautiful.(villa = beautiful) - 5형식 

        (주위 환경이 그 빌라를 더 아름답게 만들었다.)

    → The villa was made more beautiful by the surroundings.(villa = beautiful)

         - 2형식

         (그 빌라는 주위 환경에 의하여 더 아름답게 만들어졌다<되었다>.)

 

Ⅲ. 의문문을 수동태 문장으로 만들기

   ① Did Turing invent the computer?(튜링이 컴퓨터를 발명했나요?)

    1) 평서문으로 바꿈

         → Turing invented the computer.

    2) 평서문을 수동태 문장으로 바꿈

         → The computer was invented by Turing.

    3) 수동태 문장을 의문문으로 만듦

         → Was the computer invented by Turing?

              (컴퓨터는 A. 튜링에 의하여 발명되었나요?)

 

   ② Who invented the computer?(누가 컴퓨터를 발명했니?)

    1) 수동태 문장으로 바꿈

        → The computer was invented by whom.

          - 주격 who가 전치사 by의 목적어가 되므로 whom으로 바뀌었다.

    2) 의문문으로 만듦

     → Whom was the computer invented by?

     → By whom was the computer invented?

         (컴퓨터는 누구에 의하여 만들어졌니?)

         - By whom은 전치사구다. 의문사의 특징은 문장 맨 앞으로 나가는

           것이므로 Whom만 홀로 나갈 수 있으며, 전치사구가 함께 나갈 수도

           있다.

 

   ③ Whom did you meet yesterday?(너는 어제 누구를 만났니?)

   → You met whom yesterday. - 평서문으로 만듦

   → Who was met yesterday by you? - 의문문으로 만듦

       (누가 어제 너에 의하여 만나졌니?)

    - 목적격인 Whom이 주격인 Who로 바뀌었다.

 

   ④ Where(When, How) did you find his dog?

       (너는 어디서<언제, 어떻게) 그의 개를 발견했니?)

     → You found his dog where(when, how)? - 평서문으로 만듦

     ⟶ His dog was found where(when, how) by you. - 수동태로 만듦

     → Where(When, How) was his dog found by him? - 의문문으로 만듦

          (그의 개는 그에 의하여 어디서<언제, 어떻게> 발견되었니?)

	Harvard University has given my son a scholarship. - 4형식 → Harvard University has given a scholarship to my son. - 3형식으로 바꿈 (하바드 대학은 나의 아들에게 장학금을 주었었다.)

0483	Some questions were asked of me by the stranger.
	The stranger asked me some questions. - 4형식 → The stranger asked some questions of me. - 3형식으로 바꿈 – 전치사 of! (낯선 사람이 나에게 몇 가지 질문을 했다.)

0484	A new dress will be bought for her by her mother.
	Her mother will buy her a new dress. - 4형식 → Her mother will buy a new dress for her. - 3형식으로 바꿈 – 전치사 for! (그녀의 어머니께서 그녀에게 새 옷을 사줄 것이다.)

0485	My friend was elected captain of the team by them.
	⟵ They elected my friend captain of the team. - 5형식 (그들은 나의 친구를 그 팀의 주장으로 선출했다.)

0486	She was made nervous by her boyfriend.
	⟵ Her boyfriend made her nervous. - 5형식 (그녀의 남자 친구가 그녀를 신경질나게 만들었다.)

0487	Is he considered a good professor by his pupils?
	⟵ His pupils consider him a good professor. - 5형식 (그의 학생들은 그를 좋은 교수로 여긴다.)

0488	What was planted in the garden by Tom?
	⟵ What did Tom plant in the garden?(Tom은 정원에 무엇을 심었는가?) ⟶ Tom planted what in the garden. - 평서문으로 바꿈
